Academics: Music > Special Programs - Handbells
Students in fifth grade have the opportunity to audition for the select handbell group. Bell ringers are selected based upon the following criteria:
- Ringers must be in fifth grade
- Ringers must be able to attend handbell rehearsals and performances
- Ringers must have a desire to learn more about handbells and handbell music
- Ringers must be recommended by several teachers on the basis of good behavior, good attitude, classroom work ethic, and a willingness to learn
- Ringers must complete a musical evaluation that tests their ability to identify note names and note values, dynamic markings, and other musical symbols
- Ringers must pass a playing evaluation that tests their ability to play a short song comprised of two notes (for two bells) and various rhythms
During rehearsals, we will be learning many things including:

In order to have efficient rehearsals, cooperation of everyone involved is important. This includes parents and students.
