CHILD CARE

There are a few meetings held at the school for which childcare is provided free of charge to help alleviate the conflict many parents feel between wanting to participate and needing to care for their children at home. For these occasions, we need adult volunteers and will pay teenagers (ages 13-17) $10/hour to provide responsible supervision and recreation at the school to children up to 12 years of age.

CLASSROOM HELPERS

In volunteering as a helper for a Homeroom or Special, you need to know that each faculty member has the prerogative to use or not to use volunteers, and that each of the teachers have unique preferences for how often and in what ways they will use volunteers in or out of the classroom. There is also the possibility in some classrooms, particularly K-3, that far more parents will volunteer their services than there are services to perform. Therefore, it is important for you to understand that there is no guarantee that you will be asked to serve the function(s) for the classroom(s) or Special(s) that you designate on your volunteer information form. Administrative/Clerical Assistance: cutting-out/posting pictures, photocopying and preparing bulletin boards etc. ** some clerical tasks can be done at home Instructional/Tutorial Assistance: reading to students, assisting students with writing and editing stories, etc.
